Gary Erbe Paintings
Gary Erbe, a self-taught painter was born in 1944 in Union City, New Jersey where he maintained his studio from 1972–2006. In 1967, Erbe discovered Trompe-l'œil painting and its masters. It was then that he recognized his particular place. Erbe has exhibited extensively since 1970 with solo exhibitions at museums and galleries throughout America, Asia and Europe. His works are in the permanent collection of many institutions including The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Terra Foundation for American Art in Illinois, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas, the Colby College Museum of Art in Maine, Brandywine River Museum of Art, The Brinton Museum in Wyoming, Montclair Art Museum in New Jersey, The Heckscher Museum of Art in New York, Phoenix Art Museum in Arizona, The Butler Institute of American Art in Ohio and the Reading Public Museum in Pennsylvania.
