Exquisite Austrian Art-Nouveau Tabatière, Around 1900:
Rectangular smooth silver cigarette case with hinged lid, iron-red camaieu enamel painting on top: portrait of a girl with laurel wreath, opening with snap fastener on the side, eyelets on the inside for attaching straps, interior gilding.
Hallmarks:
- Diana head in hexagon - Viennese official hallmark 1872 - 1922 for 900 silver
- 'GAS' - Master's sign of GEORG ADAM SCHEID: Authorization 1862, gold and silver jewelery manufacturer, knight of the Franz Joseph Order, production of gold and silver arts and crafts, jewelery and enamel goods, participation in trade exhibitions such as in the Austrian Museum for Art and Industry, as well as in the Paris World Exhibition in 1900.
