George Wright Building and Garden Elements

British, 1860-1942
Born near Leeds, England in 1860. Wright was the elder brother of Gilbert Scott Wright, with whom he worked in the early part of the twentieth century. He is believed to have worked as an illustrator early in his career. He lived in Rugby, England for a couple of years, during which period he painted polo scenes; he later lived in Oxford and in Richmond, Surrey. Upon his retirement in 1939 he moved to Seaford, Sussex. He was best known for his hunting and coaching scenes and for his horse and equestrian portraits; he also painted historical subjects, including several small works of Cavaliers. Wright died in Seaford, Sussex, England in 1942.
