Giovanni March Paintings

Italian, 1894-1974

Giovanni March was born to Italian parents. After his father's death, he moved to Livorno, where he soon came in contact with the Post Macchiaioli painters of the Labronic group. March held his first solo exhibition in 1921 at the Aldo Gonnelli Gallery in Florence. He had great success, and two years later, he exhibited at the Galleria Vinciana in Milan. In 1928, he moved to France and exhibited both in Nice and Paris. In 1938, he moved with his family to Florence to teach at the Academy of Arts and Design.
