Like in most European countries, the desire for functionalism went hand in hand with understatement, refinement, and elegance for much of the mid-century era in Sweden. This gorgeous daybed was inspired by the classic Swedish furniture design ideals that revolve around craftsmanship, simplicity, and of course, functionality.
The output of Göperts Möbler is lesser known, however the rare pieces all share the same level of quality and streamlined modernism. Many of the manufactory’s pieces were designed by Göte Göperts, the man behind the firm. The solid wood frame of this model features a robust, fully upholstered top, and tapered legs with gently rounded edges. From the minimalistic design to the focus on the wood, this daybed has the characteristics of “honest” design that has been a core concept among Scandinavian furniture designers and makers.
