Bohemian Art Nouveau Harrach Blue to Clear Cameo Glass Vase, 1900
By Harrach Glassworks
Located in Worcester Park, GB
A vibrant Art Nouveau blue over clear Harrach cameo vase. Depicting flowers highlighted with gilding. This style of Cameo was taken by Harrach to the 1900 Paris exhibition. Their stylized cameo technique employed an icicle effect -visible just below the blue band in most of the pictures. Harrach has been the backbone of Bohemian, and possibly European, glass for the last 300 years. It proudly celebrates its tri-centenary in 2012. In fact we will probably never know how much glass, supposedly made my other great glass makers of Europe, were in fact made and finished in the Harrach Glassworks. We do know that vast ranges of Legras was made by Harrach, probably under licence, some Galle and possibly the majority of the glass we think of as Fratelli Tosso...
