"Jungle / On the Way to the Ark" - Framed fabric triptych by important American artist, Helen Webber. The work is signed and dated 2.19.1980. Please see images for the location of the signature on the tapestries.
Made of various heavy weight, wool, woven fabrics. Each panel measures 66" x 36" and each is framed with a custom-made black lacquer frame with corner leaf designs. Each panel measures with the frame 70"x40".
Webber is best known for her tapestries, and it is this medium that dominates the largest body of her work, which was first introduced to the design world in the mid 1970's. The tapestries utilize a collage technique combining an array of designer upholstery fabrics such as velvets, brocades, worsteds, jacquards, mohair, hand woven woolens, among many others. Yarns of all kinds are integrated into the tapestries surrounding the edges of each fabric piece. This is a very rare artwork in the oevre of the artist -- one of the few triptych tapestry works which she created. The artist created dramatic fabric works ranging from 6 feet to 65 feet.
