Antique English Coromandel & Silver Vanity Box by Hunt and Roskell

By Hunt and Roskell From our Vanity Box collection, we are delighted to offer this Coromandel Silver Gilt Vanity Box by Hunt and Roskell. The Vanity Box of rectangular shape with brass edging veneered in exotic Coromandel with a vacant initial plaque. The front and lid of the box feature brass stringing framing the outer perimeter with a barrel shaped escutcheon to the front. The exterior is finished with twin brass handles, one to each side with shaped accents and ball inlays. The interior of the Vanity Box is lined in royal blue velvet with a ruched inner lid containing a rear compartment holding a free standing mirror and storage for letters. The Vanity Box houses fourteen cut glass jars with engine turned sliver gilt Sterling Silver lids with vacant initial plaques to the centre of each jar. The Silver is hallmarked London, Sterling Silver by Charles Rawlings & William Summers and is dated 1846. To the centre of the top tray there is a rectangular removable tool pad containing various vanity tools. The top tray is removable via the two metal loop tabs to each side, located beneath the tray is a second tray with multiple partitions for jewellery, rings and or cufflinks.The second jewellery tray can be removed to access a larger storage area in the base. The rear of the Vanity Box is partitioned and contains five larger glass jars and an extremely rare silver gilt cup with a lined cushion for the glass jar which sits inside. The interior of the box is finished with a Bramah lock signed on the lock plate J.Bramah, 124 Piccadilly. The Vanity Box comes with its original fitted leather case with full leather straps and dates to the middle of the 19th century during latter years of the Victorian period and the reign of Queen Victoria dated 1846. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver campaign/christening set - boxed; an addition to our range of collectable silverware. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver campaign*/christening set consists of a goblet, a knife, a fork and a spoon. The goblet has a plain bell shaped form onto a cylindrical pedestal to a circular spreading foot. The upper portion and foot of the goblet are embellished with a band of bright cut engraved elongated Greek key decoration. The goblet retains the original gilt interior. The knife, fork and spoon are Old English pattern, with a pip to the terminal of the fork and spoon. The front and reverse surfaces of each handle is embellished with further bright cut engraved Greek key decoration, incorporating a vacant oval cartouche to the terminal.
