Dramatic set of eight French provincial mahogany dining chairs featuring a black lacquered finish. Restored, recaned, and painted by Ira Yeager (American 1938-2022) for his gallery in Calistoga, CA. The carved chairs were rescued from a Napa fire and have charred wood on some of the backs. The losses are encased in lacquer and have a smooth finish over the damage. Ira loved these chairs and wanted them refurbished with evidence of their history intact. The chairs have excellent joinery and newer, intact cane inset seats.
