Scandinavian Modern Scissor Lounge Chair by Folke Ohlsson for DUX
By Dux of Sweden, Folke Ohlsson
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome and iconic Scandinavian Modern Scissor lounge chair designed by Folke Ohlsson for DUX. It is in wonderful vintage condition. The wood frame has been restored; however, there may still be small signs of age. We did have to fill some rather deep flaws in the wood. The straps have been replaced with appropriate new straps. And the foam cushions are new and newly upholstered. Please see photos, circa 1950s. Now you can get all your DUX in a row!! Sorry, I couldn’t resist. This is the iconic and beautiful Scissor Lounge Chair. It was designed by Folke Ohlsson for his company DUX, Inc. purportedly in 1949. It is so incredible in its simplicity and when viewed from the side you can see immediately where it got its name. We are very excited about this wonderful chair here at our shop. Its walnut frame has been completely restored and we have replaced all the straps, which were beyond repair, with proper strapping. Plus, we have made new foam cushions and upholstered them in a fabulous black and taupe horizontal stripe fabric. Folke Ohlsson is a Scandinavian Modern Swedish furniture...

Pair of Mid-Century Modern Swedish Scissor Chairs by Folke Ohlsson for Bodafors
By Bodafors, Folke Ohlsson
Located in Warszawa, Mazowieckie
This Scissors armchair set of two was designed by Folke Ohlsson for the Swedish manufacturer Bodafors in 1962. It has a scissor oak frame with eight slats on the backrest. The loose cushions have been re-upholstered in a high-quality gray textured fabric. The history of this project began in 1950, when Olhsson designed these armchairs for his DUX company. Timeless design, simple construction and high-quality aesthetics perfectly reflect the spirit of the Mid-Century Modern. Folke Ohlsson was born and raised in Sweden. In 1953, he moved to the United States and founded DUX Incorporated, which was a huge success. The designs of Ohlsson's armchairs and sofas are appreciated for their graceful combination of traditional details and modernist simplicity. Accordingly, his work has brought many recognition and awards, including the best design at the 1964 Milan Triennale exhibition, as well as the Royal...

Questions About Jan van Grunsven Lounge Chairs
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 7, 2024
Jan van Eyck was important to the Renaissance because he set new standards for the techniques employed by Northern European artists due to his incredible skill. While Italian Renaissance artists focused on capturing perspective and emotional expressiveness, the Flemish painter was more interested in showing things in exacting detail, so they looked as real as possible. His achievements in this detail and in conveying the differences between light and shadow would influence many other painters. On 1stDibs, find a wide range of fine art.
