This painting will be shipped from our New York City location and viewings are available by appointment. This painting is by French artist Jean Rigaud (1912 - 1999) and was painted in 1964. The provenance is Private Collection, New York and was originally acquired from the Vera Lazuk Gallery, Cold Spring Harbor, NY. (see photos of vintage label stating same). It is signed lower left 'Jean Rigaud' and is also signed, titled and dated verso. Beautifully painted with heavy impasto. It has a beautiful vintage modernist frame by Alexander Lazuk Frames, Cold Spring Harbor, NY. The frame size is H 23.75” x W 33.75”. The condition of the painting and frame are excellent. Rigaud's work is widely collected and he has works in numerous museums. He had over 50 one-man-shows during his lifetime. The subject of the painting is an Island in France called the 'Ile d'Yeu'.
