This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver gilt dessert flatware set / service for twenty-four persons consist of twenty-four dessert knives and twenty-four dessert forks.
The knives have plain rounded blades and the forks have four tines; each piece retains the original gilding.
Each piece is fitted with the original, Fine and impressive shaped, carved mother of pearl handle ornamented with bead and shell decoration.
The reverse of each handle incorporates a contemporary engraved crest depicting an armoured dexter arm embowed, holding a broken spear, all above the motto 'Loyal Au Mort' - Loyal to the dead.
This antique dessert service is fitted to the Fine and impressive original hinged mahogany box with two lift out trays and velvet lined interior.
The box is ornamented with a mother of pearl cartouche which bears the aforementioned crest; this indicates the Fine quality of the service.
