Jorge Marin Furniture
Mexican, b. 1963
Mexican sculptor and painter. He studied Graphic Design and Restoration at the National School of Conservation, Restoration, and Museography.
He has been an active figure in the contemporary art world for the past 25 years. Furthermore, he started sculpting ceramics in the early 1980s, however, bronze has been his favorite material for the past 10 years.
In his work, Marín manages to capture the movement in his characters and fill them with contained force. It represents a complex universe, in which the human figure is the landscape. He is a creator of winged beings, rafts, animals, and any form that serves to disturb consciences through art and promote reflection on our societies.
He has held more than 260 individual and group exhibitions on four continents. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe, in countries such as Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, France, Hungary, England, Portugal, Turkey, and Azerbaijan; from America as in Canada, Costa Rica, the United States, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Panama; as well as Asia where it has been in China, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Kuwait.
His work Alas de México accumulates thousands of kilometers around the world. It has been definitively installed in 8 cities on 4 continents.to

"Sleeping Male Figure", Allegorical Bronze Bookend with Nude, Owl, Mask & Child
Located in Philadelphia, PA
Truly fine and extraordinary, this large and heavy bronze bookend, beautifully sculpted, cast and chased, depicts a sleeping male nude figure, his arm resting on a Classical mask, his body curled around an owl, and his left arm clasped by a small child. Given that the owl represents knowledge and wisdom, and the mask indicates art and theater, the sculpture is suffused with allegory and meaning. The sculpture is not signed, but is stamped 530/101 and shows an engraved inventory number, probably added by the first owner. The bronze has a lustrous patrina, and sits on an oxblood marble...
