Sir Joseph Paxton's (1803-1865) was a talented Victorian garden designer and architect. He created the Crystal Palace for the Exposition of 1851, an immense iron and glass structure. The Crystal Palace was a showcase of Victorian innovation and design. In recognition of his Crystal Palace creation Paxton was knighted. Paxton also created his own Lily House at Chatsworth, where he displayed his prized Water Lilies.to
