An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver locking tea caddy by Henry Chawner; an addition to our silver teaware collection.
This exceptional antique Georgian sterling silver tea caddy has an oval form.
The surface of the tea caddy is encompassed with bright cut engraved fabric swag designs and floral festoons, suspended from impressive spiralling foliate anchor-points accented with pensile bud designs.
Each spiralling motif flanks a shield shaped cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved initials 'WM' and surmounted with a ribbon style bow.
The upper and lower portions of the body are encompassed with engraved bands of chevron style decoration, in addition to an applied bead decorated border.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V Scottish sterling silver caddy spoon; an addition to our teaware collection.
This exceptional antique George V Scottish sterling silver caddy spoon has a plain shovel shaped bowl.
The handle terminal is embellished with a cast features depicting Celtic knots and interlacing designs, paralleling a mystical interlaced creature.
The handle stem is further ornamented with a raised paralleling border, incorporating scrolling designs to either end.
This impressive antique 1920s silver caddy spoon was crafted by the distinguished and collectable silversmith Alexander Ritchie of Iona, Scotland; the piece includes full Glaswegian hallmarks, in addition to identifying 'AR', 'Iona' and registration number RD NO 643267.
Alexander was in the Merchant Navy and returned home once injured in a ship wreck. He returned home to help the family run hospitality business and married Euphemia Thomson; a prior student of the Glasgow School of Art. The couple expanded their love of art and Alex expanded his skill set from wood carving to metal work. Everything was made to the Ritchies' specifications and to a high standard. In 1937, Alex Ritchie's work was included in a prestigious Scottish Industries Exhibition on London.
Condition
This antique Scottish sterling silver caddy spoon is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The cast decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the stem and reverse of the handle are all very clear.

A fine and impressive, large antique George III English sterling silver cream jug made by Henry Chawner, an addition to our Georgian silver teaware collection.
This fine antique George III sterling silver cream jug has an oval shaped form.
The surface of the incurved panelled body is plain and embellished with a bright cut engraved oval carotuche to either side, one side bears the contemporary engraved initials' and the other remains vacant.
The upper and lower rims are encompassed with applied reed decorated borders.
This fine Georgian silver cream jug is fitted with a plain scrolling handle ornamented with applied moulded decoration.
This impressive example of antique silverware was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmith Henry Chawner.
