Large Geometric Abstract. 'Traces No.9 Pour une Archéologie du Présent.'
Located in Cotignac, FR
Large 1970s abstract geometric acrylic and oil on plywood panel signed Rivel and dated 1977 to the bottom left. The painting is titled to the rear of the panel. Numbers of colour fields in muted shades jostle against one another. It is the shapes and the space between them which give energy to the painting whilst the colour palette restrains. The painting is highly textured as the artist has applied the paint thickly and energetically with both palette knife and large brushstrokes. At times layers of paint reveal underlying colours. This painting fits perfectly into the abstract genre with its focus on its formal qualities over and above its subject matter. Furthermore the artist experiments with reconstructing shapes and rejecting three dimensional perspective. A fine example of non objective art...

Latin American Abstract Geometric Chrome Bronze Architectural Sculpture E. Tafur
Located in Surfside, FL
Edgar Tafur (Colombian, 1929 - 2007) Chrome Over Bronze Sculpture Undated, signed on side near bottom, abstract sculpture Dimensions: Height: 12 3/4 inches, Width: 4 inches, Depth: 3 3/4 inches Mod Space Age Chrome over Bronze Abstract Architectural Totem Cast Sculpture Edgar Alonso Tafur, Latin American artist born and raised in Cali. Colombia, was first trained as an architect at the University of the Andes, but shortly thereafter switched his focus to sculpture. It is this work which brought Tafur to the United States, first to study at the University of Florida and then to Oklahoma where he was featured in a solo exhibition at the Oklahoma Art Center in 1966. Alluding his architectural roots, Tafurs sculptures possess a marked structural form, drawing on themes of positive and negative space. In addition to his work as a sculptor, Tafur was well known for his modernist concept designs, consisting of fountains and architectural murals commissioned by fellow architects. “Each of his works is an understatement of the principles of architecture, which is itself sculptural. Tafur’s sensitivity towards the play of light and shadow on the surfaces, his relationship of positive and negative spaces, and his fluid play of rhythms all lend themselves dramatically to an exciting visual statement. His simplicity and modernism evokes the opinion of the renowned architect, Mies Van der Rohe: ‘less is more.'” Patric Shannon, Director, Oklahoma Art Center While some of his work has a brutalist quality to it it is generally more abstract geometric, masculine with polished chrome surfaces, enamel and some with great, strong colors. This has an abstract flora, cactus like shape to it. He is from the generation of Colombian artists who rose to prominence in the mid 20th century which included Fernando Botero, Doris Salcedo, Oscar Murillo, Antonio Caro...

Echo In Motion, Abstract Mixed-Media Painting on Paper by Emmi Iida
Located in Lahti, FI
“Echo in Motion” is an original abstract work on paper by Finnish multidisciplinary artist Emmi Iida, known for her emotionally charged and intuitive compositions that merge gesture, texture, and flow. This 2023 piece captures a moment of raw movement and organic tension — strokes of gray, black, and ochre interlace with fluid drips and translucent washes. The composition feels spontaneous yet deeply intentional, like a visual echo of a fleeting emotion or thought suspended in air. The exposed paper acts as negative space, giving the piece a quiet balance between chaos and stillness. Executed with acrylics and mixed media on fine art paper, “Echo in Motion” reflects Emmi Iida’s continued exploration of energy and emotion through abstraction — a meditation in motion, ideal for collectors drawn to expressive yet minimalist works on paper. About the Artist: Emmi Iida is an internationally exhibiting artist, author, musician and interior architect, working at the intersection of visual art, sound, and design. Her practice is rooted in Nordic minimalism and emotional depth, infused with a global perspective from her years living and creating across Europe and the United States. Her works have been acquired by collectors from New York to Los Angeles, Sydney to Paris, and she is currently represented by MONAT Gallery (Paris, Madrid, Innsbruck) and Van Gogh Art Gallery (Munich, Miami). Upcoming exhibitions include international art fairs and group shows in Europe and the United States in 2025. Abstract Art...
