Laura Moriarty Paintings

Laura Moriarty is engaged in a visual dialogue that finds equilibrium between scientific representation and acts of abstraction. Her studio practice includes making sculptures, paintings, prints and multimedia installations. By studying the elaborate diagrams found in earth science textbooks and from empirical evidence of geological events, Moriarty creates macro/micro records in encaustic paint of what she imagines is happening below the earth’s terrain. Moriarty’s work is shown internationally and she is the recipient of many grants and fellowships, including the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation grant and Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, Zeta Orionis Fellowship, Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT and the Baer Art Center, Hofsos, Iceland.

"Almost There", Vibrant Contemporary Encaustic Abstract, Yellow and Orange

Located in Carmel, CA

Rinat Goren (Israeli, American, born 1964) "Almost There" 2021 Encaustic paint and paper on cradled wood panel The artist signed the bottom right corner of the painting. “Almost There” is a luminous abstract work created with encaustic and paper on a cradled wood panel. The composition is anchored by a radiant golden field layered with softened geometric forms, linear markings, and a flowing turquoise passage that guides the eye across the surface. Goren’s use of encaustic allows for rich translucency and depth, with molten wax binding pigment and paper into a tactile, atmospheric surface. Repeating rounded shapes and subtle linear rhythms suggest movement, mapping, and quiet progression, while the contrast between warm yellows and cool blues creates a sense of balance and anticipation. The title reflects this visual language, evoking transition, momentum, and the emotional space between arrival and journey. Blending abstraction with a meditative sense of structure, “Almost There” exemplifies Goren’s refined approach to encaustic painting, where color, texture, and process converge. The work is well-suited for collectors drawn to contemporary abstraction, material-driven practice, and pieces that offer both visual warmth and conceptual subtlety. About the Artist: Rinat Goren is an Israeli-American artist based in California whose contemporary encaustic works explore the relationship between thought, structure, and emotion. Born in Israel and residing in the U.S. for most of her life, Goren has long been drawn to both observation and creation, translating the complexity of the human mind into layered visual compositions. Her encaustic paintings—formed by applying molten beeswax mixed with pigment—evoke a tactile, sensory experience that reflects her fascination with systems, decision-making, and the creative act itself. She works with geometry, color, and abstraction to celebrate our innate capacity to reflect, choose, and act with intention. Goren’s process is rooted in one of the world’s oldest painting...

Abstract encaustic painting with dyed teal, indigo, beige, and white dyed fabrics "Blue Ochre & White Lies" made by Hudson Valley artist, Alaina Enslen, in 2022 Encaustic & dyed fabrics mounted on panel 16 x 20 inches, 17 x 21 inches framed Excellent condition, ready to hang Lightweight Signed, verso This abstract minimalist painting is made with repurposed pieces of found fabrics in complementary tones of teal, indigo, and beige on an encaustic white background. The fabrics, which are adhered to a light wood Birch panel and layered with a subtle layer of encaustic, are arranged in a whimsical motif that accentuates the spontaneous dyed patterns. The layers of fabric and encaustic create a textured, impasto surface. About the artist: Alaina Enslen expresses her artistic vision through repurposed fabrics infused with beeswax. The Cornwall-On-Hudson based artist collects pieces of textile that evoke memory, tradition, or experience like cherished worn heirlooms, discarded clothes, and religious garments, which are then assembled on panel in an abstract patchwork. Favoring fabrics with a neutral or subtle cool palette, she flattens and frays the material to explore color, form, and lines, reimaging used cloth...

Little Blue (Abstract Geometric Mixed Media Encaustic Work on Wooden Panel)

By Donise English

Located in Hudson, NY

Little Blue, 2020 Encaustic & collage on thin edged board 12" X 12" This abstract geometric composition on wooden board features a playful geometric motif that is inspired by the artist's interest in architecture and blueprint drawings. The geometric forms are made in a more painterly, gestural manner rather than with a hard edge. Paint is not heavily built up upon the surface but it certainly exhibits a tactile quality which is characteristic of the artist's aesthetic. English's work celebrates the quirky, unexpected qualities of shapes and colors. About the artist: Donise English is a Poughkeepsie-based artist who received her MFA from Bard College and is currently a Professor of Studio Art at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Artist Statement: I am interested in drawing and collaging multiple layers of information that refer abstractly to maps, architectural drawings and blueprints or patterns and structures found in such things as roller coasters, power lines and fences. I use gouache and collaged paper in a series of layers that are a visual and ideological response to the previous layer to define my pictorial space. For each piece I create a set of rules to follow about the use of a limited palette, a grid format, opacity of paper and whether a piece may include curving lines or maintain a rectilinear structure.
