Laredo Armchair, 3-Legged Contemporary Ergonomic Design w/Traditional Joinery
By Peter Glassford
Located in San Antonio, TX
Influences from Mexico, Japan and Stickley are rendered in solid wood using traditional tongue and groove joinery. This sculptural 3-legged contemporary armchair is comfortable because the high arms ergonomically support the body above a 14-high seat. First made by the designer in Laredo, Texas studio in 1994, they are now made to order in Guadalajara, Mexico as signed editions.
These chairs are made from Rosa Morada wood and finished with several coats of matte lacquer and wax. The finish will withstand covered outdoor conditions, avoiding direct sunlight and water.
Rosa Morada trees grow from central Mexico down through tropical Central America and are sustainably harvested by permit and then kiln dried to 10%.
Bio:
Peter Glassford was born in Texas where he graduated with a degree in Sculpture from the University of Texas at Austin. Currently he lives in Guadalajara, Mexico with his wife Isabel Moncada, a lighting designer. Together, they founded Glassford Moncada...
