Spanish furniture and architecturals of the 18th century, such as this pair of walnut wood entry doors, were highly influenced by French stylings. Hand-carved circa 1750, the doors feature deep, sinuous moldings, reminiscent of the curvaceous motifs seen during the reign of Louis XV. The amazing doors have a rich brown patina that accentuates the charm of the carvings, which are also enhanced by the visible screws used to join the pieces of walnut wood. Comprised of five carved panels per door, each carving is similar: a rough rectangle with rounded ends and barbed counter curves. The three smaller panels are orientated horizontally, surrounding the two larger and vertically arranged panels. A thickly scrolled bronze pull can be seen on each door, also functioning as door knockers (the door on the right has commensurate wear from the pull striking the wood). Designed by Aaron Saxton & Maria Armada. Heavy and substantial, these doors have the starburst bars in 1/2" relief and 1/4" wide. Matched walnut both sides. Sealed and coated with 7 coats of varnish with 2 final coats of matte finish using Epifanes spar varnish. Bars are sealed to lock in the color of the 100% solid brass. These are doors designed and produced to last and will be suitable even for marine environments.
