In her mixed-media artwork "23 V Countercurrent," Rey explores narratives connecting nature, technology and sustainability. Fusing a Postmodern oeuvre of abstraction and surrealism, with a nod to Tiepolo, Constable and Dali, the artist ignites saturated stems of red, pink, and green pigments in a world where color and form flow in and out of multi-perspectives. Springing forth through space is symbolic iconography. Sea life including fish, manatee and coral swim through currents of air, water and land as the artist examines the dynamic link between them. Engineered towers protect vital H2O for human sustenance while elements of the periodic table depict the equality of all that exists on earth and beyond.
