They were known for their quality craftsmanship, solid hardwoods, and designs ranging from gothic to arts and crafts. They began as cabinet makers, circa 1850 in Leeds as Marsh & Jones of Leeds. They later expanded to London when the well-known cabinetmaker Henry Humphries Cribb sent his son to serve his apprenticeship with Marsh and Jones.
