Designed by Maurice Bailey for Monteverdi Young of Beverly Hills, this sofa is Mad Men elegance at its finest. Known for its super high quality pieces, Monteverdi Young was one of the true furniture makers to the stars during Hollywood's golden era.
This sofa is no exception, with its thick and chonky cabriole legs (MV Young is known for) and its supple black leather channel back, this large, substantial sofa is refined mid century modern design.
In our humble opinion, this luxurious sofa clearly belongs in a library, study, or den. The only thing really missing from this tableau are a fireplace, a fresh cigar and a glass of Macallan.
While there are many designers in the mid century modern realm that may be more well known than Maurice Bailey, his influence and design can be seen even today in more elegant timeless pieces. His pieces have a very gentleman type feel and would look incredible in any type of mid century modern, Hollywood Regency, or even more traditional environments. His pieces have a very Timothy Oulton masculine feel and would effortlessly blend into both Tommy Bahama and Regency type environments.
