MiramHaskell c1930 Stamped Brass FloralMotif Pendants Link Chain Choker Necklace
By Miriam Haskell
Located in Chicago, IL
Featuring stamped-brass findings c1930, this Miriam Haskell collar necklace was made by her first designer Frank Hess in an Art-Nouveau style with ornate floral motifs for its 15 dangling bud-shaped or fluted-ball pendants, along with intricate textural patterns on the stamped bands that link the oval-ring chain choker. Among the festoon of graduating charms, the largest centered pendant is 1.5 inches long and 0.75 inches in diameter. One of our photos show that the surprisingly light-weight pendants are hollow--some with a hole punched at the bottom. The distinct stamped bands, which include a fold-over clasp, are found in more obviously Haskell-Hess pre-WWII jewelry...

Questions About Miriam Haskell Link Necklaces
  • 1stDibs ExpertSeptember 9, 2024
To tell Miriam Haskell jewelry apart from other pieces, first look for a marking. Pieces produced in the 1940s and afterward will usually feature some type of hallmark. Early on, the maker used a horseshoe, and then, in the 1950s, began stamping "Miriam Haskell" onto the jewelry. The oldest pieces are unlikely to have any markings, so the best approach to identifying them is often to have a certified appraiser or knowledgeable antique dealer authenticate them. On 1stDibs, shop an assortment of Miriam Haskell jewelry.
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 20, 2024
Yes, Miriam Haskell used real gold. However, the American jeweler typically didn't make solid gold jewelry. Often, she worked with an exclusive type of gold plating called Russian gold. The material consists of a base metal dipped in a finish that contains 24-karat gold, copper and other ingredients. Some gold-tone pieces made by Haskell feature brass construction rather than Russian gold. Find a selection of Miriam Haskell jewelry on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 15, 2024
No, Miriam Haskell typically didn't use real diamonds. The American jewelry designer produced costume jewelry that rivaled the beauty of fine jewelry pieces but featured less expensive materials. As a result, Miriam Haskell earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets and brooches usually feature glass rather than real gemstones. Explore a selection of Miriam Haskell jewelry on 1stDibs.
