Inez van Lamsweerde/Vinoodh Matadin, Pretty Much Everything

By Inez van Lamsweerde, Vinoodh Matadin, M/M Paris

Located in Los Angeles, CA

Two artists, one vision. The enigmatic and genre-defying work of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. “It is typical of the photographic art of van Lamsweerde and Matadin that they urge their image making to de-stabilize the pristine surfaces expected of consumer culture; to this end they make use, in turn, of the Gothic, inscrutability, androgyny, comedy, eroticism, surrealism, fantasy, montage, cinema, replication, image manipulation, Pop Art, fetishism and art historical nuance.” —Michael Bracewell, from the introduction Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s work has graced the walls and pages of some of the world’s finest galleries and fashion magazines, and if it is surprising that their photographs easily float between these worlds, it is by Virtue of their ease in creating imagery that seeks homes in both culturally elite and mainstream outlets. For some of their photographs, such as their portrait of Bjo¨rk or Campaign for Givenchy, van Lamsweerde and Matadin have worked in collaboration with the art directors M/M (Paris), who have also designed this sumptuous two-volume retrospective set that looks back at “pretty much everything” that the photographers have been working on for over two decades and has brought them to the forefront in the fields of both art and fashion. Limited Collector’s Edition of 1,000 copies, each numbered and signed by the artists. Two-volume retrospective with 666 photographs of “pretty much everything” that the photographers have been working on for over two decades. Additional reader with interviews and texts about the photographic œuvre of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Entire set designed by the artists’ longtime collaborators M/M (Paris) and includes original silkscreened poster, origami-folded over the top corner of the slipcase. Also available in two Art Editions of 100 copies each including two signed and numbered photographic prints. The designer: Established in Paris in 1992, M/M (Paris) is an art and design partnership consisting of Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag. They are best known for their art direction and collaborations with musicians, fashion designers, and contemporary artists, including Bjo¨rk, Madonna, Yohji Yamamoto, Balenciaga, Pierre...

Frank Lloyd Wright American Architect of the Twentieth century 1993. by Robin Langley Sommer. 1st Edition, hardcover book. Frank Lloyd Wright: American Architect for the Twentieth Century Hardcover book. Frank Lloyd Wright is recognized as a dominant figure in the history of modern architecture. His life and revolutionary work is described in this volume filled with more than 180 photographs illustrating 60 of his most-beloved buildings. An impressive, beautifully illustrated volume examines the creations of America's beloved architect, including interior furnishings, stunning private homes, and unique public buildings, with an introduction providing insight into his private life as well as his enduring work. Publisher ? : ? Smithmark Pub Language ? : ? English Item Weight ? : ? 3.6 pounds Dimensions ? : ? 11 x 0.75 x 14.75 inches. Recognized as a dominant figure in the history of modern architecture and the greatest design influenced in the United States during the first half of the twentieth century, Frank Lloyd Wright created, during his long and prolific career, a unique body of work that endures to this day. Beginning in 1889 with the design for his own house in Oak Park, Illinois, and continuing with hundreds of designs for residential, commercial, ecclesiastical, educational and civic structures, Wright's varied architecture is unified only by the underlying organized principles of change and innovation. Revolutionizing residential architecture with the disparate expressions of his simple creed, "out of the ground and into the light! Wright's houses feature a sense of unity and privacy, an a free flow of interior space. Wright sought synthesis in his projects by designing whenever possible, everything from furniture, art glass and lighting fixtures to table lines, carpets and carports. In his Prairies Houses, textile-block structures and Usonian houses, culminating in his masterpiece, Fallingwater, Wright experimented with forms, materials and technology in ever-evolving designs. Wright designed such ambitious commercial masterworks as the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, the S.C. Johnson and Son Administration Building and Research Tower, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum-the alter for which he is perhaps best known. This volume pays tribute to the life and works of frank Lloyd Wright with more than 180 photographs illustrating 60 selected buildings, complemented by a descriptive and incisive text. Luigi Ghirri: It's Beautiful Here, Isn't It... by Luigi Ghirri. Published by Aperture, NY, 2008. Stated 1st Ed hardcover with dust jacket. Ghirri was an extraordinary photographer, as well as a writer and curator whose career was so rich and varied that it seems like a lesson in the contemporary history of the medium. Although well known in his native Italy, Ghirri does not yet have the international audience his work merits--perhaps because he died so young. This is the first book published on Ghirri in the U.S. It will establish him as the seminal artist he was. Uncannily prescient, Ghirri shared the sensibility of what became known in the U.S. as the New Color and the New Topographics...

Now, straight from the pages of this well-loved periodical, The Well-Lived Life presents a lavish chronicle of a country and a culture coming into its own, documenting America's continuing education in matters of house, home and garden over the course of the 20th century.
