Nikolai Kotlarczyk Decorative Objects
Nikolai Kotlarczyk is an Australian designer, based in Copenhagen, Denmark, since 2013. Graduating from the Queensland College of Arts, in Brisbane, his experience in Australia was strongly influenced by his time with renowned design and manufacturing house, Tait. His studio focuses on design pieces, full of narrative. A strong connection with geography, history, materiality and rituals can be seen within his pieces. Working within a self-expressed decorative minimalist style, Nikolai’s work aims to simplify the act of story-telling, through an honest pallet of materials and bold forms. His work includes self-initiated edition pieces and design pieces for manufactures and has been shown in several international exhibitions, including in Milan, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Melbourne. He is a member of studio and workshop, Hal 4, in Nordhavn and he regularly contributes to Australian online publication, Yellowtrace. He was also a co-founder of the culture-house in Copenhagen's inner north, Øen and has worked in various roles for design companies, including Pulpo and New Works.
