"In this still life, I wanted the focus to be on the slice of orange in the foreground," says Nikolay. "The intention is to display the wonderful effect of light moving through the inside of the fruit."
About the Artist
Nikolay Rizhankov was born in Moscow, Russia and lived in Armenia for most of his life. He studied fine art and Russian classical painting at the National University of Art in Moscow and graduated with a Masters in Fine Art in 1989. In 2013, he relocated to Denver, Colorado. Nikolay paints landscape, portrait and still life paintings in the tradition of the Dutch masters. He uses only the highest quality canvases, masterfully stretching them and applying a special primer that will last the test of time. This approach gives Nikolay’s paintings lively energy, warmth and mystery.
