By Paula Murray
Located in Bloomfield, ON
In her Quebec studio, ceramic artist Paula Murray uses her own recipe for porcelain clay that she hand-shapes into beautiful and intricate pieces. Murray does own a collection of canoes. “Transition and pods are other titles I used with this series- the idea of leaving one place - for another; the shell that held a life that is no longer of use...” Paula Murray She has received many honours and international awards and was elected into the RCA in 2006. Untitled Relief
By Victor Vasarely
Located in Palo Alto, CA
Vasarely's skill in creating a sense of the three-dimensional through the use of visual effects is apparent in this work with a combination of recessed and protruding geometrical shapes. Bold black, white, and blue hues accentuate the feeling of volume and space apparent in this marvelous relief. The geometric shapes of circles, squares, and diamonds guide our eye throughout the composition, encouraging us to explore the three dimensional optical effect before us. The total effect of this play on color and shape is visually stunning and impressive in the amount of thought and skill put into the arrangement of design elements. This porcelain Rosenthal relief...

Sacred Dance II - nature-inspired, hand-shaped porcelain clay sculpture
By Paula Murray
Located in Bloomfield, ON
Artist Paula Murray’s work is rooted in her spiritual journey and expressed in the uniquely beautiful ceramics she creates. Sacred Dance is a series of porcelain vessels—the undulating curves of each formed using her own clay recipe. This elegant blush-coloured vessel has visible darker fine markings that add detail and depth to the piece. “Clay vessels have a long history and can be read as a metaphorical symbol of life, holding a sacred space.” Paula Murray She has received many honours and international awards and was elected to the RCA in 2006. Murray’s work has been gifted by the Canadian government to dignitaries such as US President George W. Bush and UN Secretary Kofi Annan.
