British, 1908-1992
Pauline Glass was a Birmingham born artist who studied at the world-famous Juliens Art Academy, Brussels, Belgium and at the Birmingham School of Art. She was a member of the RBS and exhibited throughout her life, including at the Society of Women Artists, the Royal Academy and the prestigious New English Art Club. Pauline lived and worked in the Birmingham area all her life.

(In the 19th century many artists made educational trips to Italy). It was a long visit: the child was two years old by the time the family returned to Ghent.[1]
After a short period of practice with his father, van Biesbroeck was enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. His first painting, "The Shepherd" (French: Le pâtre), was sold at the Triennale in Ghent.
