Peter Kuhfeld Born in Cheltenham, Peter is the only child of a German prisoner of war and an English classical pianist. He studied at Leicester School of Art between 1972-76 and on graduation worked for two years giving lessons in drawing and painting at Rugby School of Art before securing a place at the Royal Academy Schools. There he studied under Peter Greenham CBE RA from 1977 to 80. While at the Royal Academy Schools Peter won various scholarships and prizes, notably the David Murray Landscape Prize, the Royal Academy of Art Silver Medal for Drawing, the Royal College of Surgeons Dooley Prize for Anatomical Drawing, the Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation Scholarship and Richard Ford Scholarship for study in Spain. He has enjoyed a successful career exhibiting around the world and often appears in the ING Discerning Eye selection. His drawings are held in the Royal Collection and in 2012, he was commissioned by HRH The Prince of Wales to paint the royal wedding of TRH the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge.

First of the Morning Light oil on canvas,64x78 I love the gentle light falling on the model from a very beautiful window. Born in 1952, Kuhfeld studied at Leicester School of Art between 1972 and 1976. In 1978 he secured a place at the Royal Academy School of Art. During this time he also studied under the painter Peter Greenham CBE, RA. While at the Royal Academy Schools Kuhfeld won various notable scholarships and prizes: 1978-79 David Murray Landscape Prize; 1979 Royal Academy of Art Silver Medal for Drawing, Royal College of Surgeons Dooley Prize for Anatomical Drawing; 1980 Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation Scholarship and Richard Ford Scholarship for study in Spain. In 1985 the New Grafton Gallery in London gave Kuhfeld his first major exhibition, with the painter Christa Ga, which helped establish him as one of the up-and-coming members of the New English Art movement. In 1986 Kuhfeld was elected to membership of the New English Art Club. In 1992 he became an elected member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. Many of her paintings depicted human-made structures and industrial landscapes in a style combining realism, precisionism and abstraction. Often the central subject such as in "Railroad Signal" was the only suggestion of humanity against a backdrop of stark Texas landscape. Of her painting these isolated subjects she said: "I enjoy taking some rather obscure or unimportant subject or theme and making something fine and important out of it . . .
