George Schwacha was president of the American Artists Professional League and a past president of the Audubon Artists and Art Center of New Jersey. He belongs to the American Watercolor Society, The National Society of Painters in Casein, and the Philadelphia Watercolor Club. Born in New York City in 1901, Francis Vandeveer Kughler attended Cooper Union, the Mechanics' Institute, and the National Academy of Design School of Art where he met Charlotte Livingston, an artist, whom he was later to marry.
