Robert Lee Morris Vintage Gilded Mask Necklace
By Robert Lee Morris
Located in New York, NY
This one of a kind gold plated brass piece was never sold as part of the wholesale collection of Robert Lee Morris. It instead was carved and created by him in 1983 when he was experimenting with so many new ideas. The fascinating mask carving could be both an exaggerated bird scull or part of a jet propulsion engine, the design is modern and futuristic. This is part of the large group called Casual Gold, quirky, unique experimental pieces during Morris's growing years.
There is a large body of jewelry created by Robert Lee Morris called Casual Gold. They are made by rearranging the many RLM vocabulary components into new and interesting configurations. All necklaces...

Robert Lee Morris for Artwear Gold Plated Sterling Silver Sculptural Necklace
By Robert Lee Morris
Located in North Miami, FL
This period vintage gold plated link necklace was designed and executed in the late 70's by Robert Lee Morris when he had his Art Wear gallery in NYC/ Soho. It is a fine example of his organic and sensual sculptural forms. It is a necklace today that remains timeless and modernist as he bridged the worlds of fashion and art as one. It is wearable jewelry that evokes a sensuality. The links that are reinterpreted teardrop forms with a modernist approach in jewelry design are modernity brought to a high level. Robert Lee Morris during his high time...

Robert Lee Morris born in Nuremberg Germany in 1947. Is an American jewelry designer and sculptor, who attributes much of his inspiration to organic forms he admires in nature and to designing for an imaginary futuristic society. His designs have been made in gold, silver and bronze and he is known for his 24 carat matte gold plating and rich deep red copper and green patina. He has collaborated or designed collections for fashion designers Geoffrey Beene, Kansai Yamamoto, Calvin Klein, Anne Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Michael Kors and Donna Karan. Morris was awarded the Coty Award in 1981 and the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award by the CFDA Awards in 2007. Morris was discovered in 1971 by New York gallery owner Joan Sonnabend and first exhibited his work at her art jewelry outpost in the Plaza Hotel called, Sculpture to Wear. Shortly after the closing of Sculpture to Wear in 1977, he opened the first edition of Artwear Gallery at 28 East 74th Street on the Upper East Side, near the couture district on Madison Avenue. Artwear Gallery relocated to SoHo in August 1978 where it would be surrounded by contemporary art galleries. The new location also gained new celebrity clientele, including Issey Miyake, Geoffrey Beene, Madonna, Cher, Bianca Jagger, Janet Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, among others. Jewelry designers shown at Artwear Gallery, besides Morris included Ted Muehling and Cara Croninger...
