The French company Robj sold ceramic wares from 1908 until the early 1930s, often depicting stylized caricatures of musicians, sailors or traditional French costumes in Art Deco style.
Robj was founded in 1908 by Jean Born. The name of the company was an anagram of the abbreviation of the name of its founder, J. Bor. Initially, the company offered electric lighters and incense sticks, but gradually focused on the production and distribution of decorative arts items under the Robj Bibleots banner. (Robj's Sweets). Together with Lucien Willemetz, Born ran a shop selling porcelain figures and other objects on the Parisian street Cité d'Hauteville 3. The company did not produce the art items itself, but commissioned the designs from various suppliers, including the Manufacture royale de Porcelaine de Sèvres, Villeroy & Boch in Luxembourg, and factories in Limoges and Boulogne-sur-Seine.
