Rod Goebel Folk Art

American, 1946-1993

Rod Goebel was a painter of southwestern landscapes in lights, shadows and powerful colors. He was fascinated by color and paints using emotions instead of intellect. Goebel attended the University of New Mexico and the Colorado Institute of Art, as well as receiving private lessons in portraiture. He has been featured in Southwest Art, August 1980 and exhibited at the Peking, China show. Goebel was a member of the National Academy of Western Art and was one of the Taos Six.
