A silhouette of a beautiful young man shown with his Brooklyn garden in the background. He casually checks his iPhone and is clearly confident in his nude body. Is he just checking messages or is he on Grindr? This impression is #1 in the edition. It was created in 2016 and was printed on Awagami Inbe White in an edition of 10. 'I am eternally drawn to the immediacy of the Polaroid, the instant aspect has always been very gratifying as an image creator and story teller. It is always a difficult question to answer who these subjects are; in the most general sense I would best describe my subjects as lovers, friends and fellow artists. They are impersonators of their own and my ideas for an image. I see my subjects as accomplices in the creation of images and not mere means to an end. While I do direct my subjects in a certain way, it is equally vital for a component of chance to be present; I try to make my subjects lose inhibitions in front of the camera while at the same time remaining aware of the whole practice. I am an archivist, gathering not only community experiences but also sights of metropolises, architecture, nature and quotidian life.
