An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver four-piece tea and coffee set/service; part of our silver teaware collection.
This exceptional antique George III English sterling silver four piece tea and coffee set consists of a coffee pot, teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl.
Each piece of this silver tea service has a rectangular rounded form onto four ball style feet; the coffee pot is supported by a plain rounded rectangular pedestal.
The body of each piece is embellished with undulating bands of embossed decoration, in addition to an impressive applied interlacing border below a band of gilded tiered leaf ornamentation to the upper portion.
This Georgian teapot and coffee pot are all fitted with plain domed flush hinged hallmarked covers surmounted with cast sterling silver fluted finials; the flush hinges indicate the high quality of this service.
The teapot and coffee pot have embossed ribbed, hallmarked sterling silver C shaped handles incorporating a plain scrolling thumbpiece to the upper portion.
The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with embossed sterling silver reed handles, accented with bifurcating leaf decoration to the upper terminal.
The interior of the sugar bowl and cream jug retains the original gilding.
The coffee pot and teapot are fitted with impressive plain swan necked spouts.
