Sonya Konstantinovsky's passion for color gems was ignited at a young age, traipsing through the city gardens of Odessa, Ukraine with her mother and grandmother. She fondly remembers her first gemstone purchase, a heart-shaped moonstone pendant, which sparked a lifelong obsession. After years of pursuing a safer career path, Konstantinovsky's love for gems was rekindled upon discovering tsavorite garnet. This transformative moment inspired her to research and collect rare, high-quality gemstones. As she honed her knowledge, she began designing jewelry that showcased her beloved gems. With the pandemic and war in Ukraine as clarifying reminders of life's brevity, Konstantinovsky finally introduced her fine jewelry line, Sonya K. Her designs emphasize clean lines, impactful color, and timelessness, with a focus on rare gemstones and bold diamonds. Konstantinovsky's enthusiasm for beauty is contagious, and her jewelry is crafted to be wearable, fun, and exciting. Tsavorite is one of the rarest garnets and gems on earth. It is very difficult to find clean stones, even small ones, and clean stones over 3 carats are extremely rare. This garnet was discovered by British geologist Campbell R. Bridges in 1967 and named by Harry Platt of Tiffany & Company (New York) Tsavorite after the Tsavo region in Kenya where it was discovered.
