Valay Shende Art

Indian, b. 1980
Inspired by his surroundings, Shende uses his body of work to capture the challenges and dichotomies that characterize India today, particularly the striking divide between modern and industrial views on one hand, and traditional religious ones on the other. His recent sculptures, unique in both their process and scale, are intricately built out of minute metal discs, pocket watches, copper-plated fiberglass and other non-traditional materials. The combination of video art and sculptural installations in his practice is also unique, adding and entirely new dimension to classical ideas of sculpture. He is a keen and sensitive observer of his surroundings and concerned about the common main's and tribulations of day to day life. Valay feels an artist owes a responsibility to the society and firmly believes an ideal world care-created. Valay's works are in subtle ways his attempts ways his attempts to question the maladies affecting urban society and humans today. He is a keen and sensitive observer of his surroundings and concerned about the common man's trial and tribulation of day -to- day life .He feels an artist to the society and firmly believes an ideal world can be re-created .He wishes the audience to upon the issues plaguing man today. Valay Primarily creates video work and sculptural installations .His observations and feelings set off the production of his work and hence determine the choice of media .His works demonstrate his technical deftness and ability to transforms a thought into a work of art. He is quite a contrast to the life-size sculptural installations he creates .If the Nagpur –born artists is shy to a fault, his work are forceful and intensely articulate. Sensitively thought – out and superbly crafted, they bring out the essences of the artist's vision of what is right and what is not. Through skillfully rendered objects, profiles and symbols they put across his ideas and concerns about the present day, religion ridden society. Valay's sculptures stand out by their sheer weight both in physical sense. Bhaiya Indian, a six foot copper-plated fiber glass sculpture of a security guard, is a case in point. The natural bearing of the protagonist takes curious twists when the viewer recognizes that he has not two but eight arms! While the predictable rifle is held passively in one of the head, other carry the burden of an iron box, a stethoscope, a tea kettle,a dead fish and a mason's plastering implement .More surprises are in store: the guard's spinal cord is exposed in the rear , with a set of moving wheels and gear attached to it ; this would make the arms move when connected to an electric point. The whole set up is natural as it intriguing. The massage too is loud and clear, particular when one see that the watchman is bare save for the slender underwear wrapped around his waist and a sturdy uniform cap dangling on his head.

K.S. Radhakrishnan - Krishna - HT : 13 x W : 10 x CIR : 20 inches Bronze Sculpture. Krishna : Figurative sculpture of Hindu God by great Modern Indian Artist K.S. Radhakrishnan who has successfully brought about a defenitive resurgence in Indian sculpture. Style : K.S Radhakrishnan is one of the most notable among the new generation of sculptors. Like many of his contempories he is a figurative sculptor, but his preference for modelling and bronze casting sets him apart from the rest of them. Recharging age old sculptural processes with a new sensibility, thus is the singular challenge he brings to modern Indian sculpture. And this makes him a modernist - who approaches his work with discernible ambition and considerable aplomb while steering clear of brinkmanship. Radhakrishnan's works often drawn from the emotions and myths of the Hindu gods, such as Shiva, Kali and Radha. His sculptures are often larger than life-sized; placed in the outdoors, they evoke a superhuman atmosphere. Over the years, Radhakrishnan has experienced with alternate sculpting mediums, working in molten bronze, beeswax and Plaster of Paris. The physical process of working with the materials becomes a performance in itself. The sculpture is the product of a tactile engagement with his medium. With celebration of sensuality as one of its running themes, his works is at once both intimate and universal in its appeal. A personal commemorative sculpture, with a scale and presence that holds well in natural settings, his work has found permanent home in a number of public collections all over the world. This mid-sized abstract sculpture by artist Joe Sorge is made with stainless steep, orange dye, and a clear coat. It features a thin strip of steel that appears to curl upwards, looping around itself in loose knots. This flowing form creates unique shadows in its environment. Please note that the white pedestal base pictured is not included. Connecticut-based sculptor Joe Sorge studied at the School of Visual Art (SVA) in New York City. While Joe's body of work is most often made with stainless steel which he sometimes dyes to give the forms bold, solid colors, he also experiments with stone carving, genesa crystals, tiger eye alabaster and others. He works with a variety of colors, finishes, and textures, to create the final piece. Joe's sculptures express the fluidity and tension inherent in the material he uses. His work draws on a modernist vocabulary to create abstract, often whimsical objects...
