This stylish 1980s abstract print silk two piece set by Victor Edelstien is in immaculate condition and extremely adaptable. The pure silk fabric is black with a vibrant red linear floral design of a dynamic that lends itself effortlessly to occasion wear, formal or otherwise. The dress is a simple shift cut, sleeveless with an off the shoulder neckline and a neat straight calf length skirt with a wrap around aesthetic that slips easily over the hip. The bodice is subtly corseted with boning on either side of the ribs and one central piece that rises at the centre of the bust to maintain the form of the neckline. There is a central zip fasting at the reverse. The collarless jacket has a light, breezy feel and is designed to be worn open, falling to just below the hip. The long sleeves are rushed slightly at the shoulders. This chic and wearable set is marked a vintage UK 12 and would best suit a US size 6-8, UK size 10-12. This ensemble was also featured in a Neiman Marcus campaign for Harper's Bazaar, September 1998 on actress Estella Warren. The jacket is made from black wool. It features a squared notched lapel, V- neckline and lightly padded shoulders. A dramatic hourglass silhouette emphasised by lines of rhinestone embellishments in the shape of corset seam-lines . The rhinestones are also featured on the cuff of each sleeve. Completed by a chiffon skirt and shorts set. A lighter variation of the runway look which was presented in a more structured fabric. The chiffon is a clear continuation of Thierry Mugler’s “Lingerie Revisited” theme, balancing structure with sensuality. A very special collectors item. This figure flattering, silk, wrap-dress by Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche from 1980* has a beautiful multicolor floral print. The pink, orange and purple flowers surrounded by green leafs are set on a black ground. At the neck, there is an interior tie to close up above the bust. The inside is lined around the shoulders and it comes with a matching sash stitched on the back. Taking a closer look at the Jabot-style collar and ruffled sleeves covered in pink and orange stripes it shows how beautifully constructed Yves Saint Laurent's ready-to-wear items where made. The vivid colors and combination of stripes and flowers give the all together look a funky Parisienne touch: feminine, but rather cool with a touch of romance. The indicated size FR 38 corresponds to a contemporary size S but because of the two strategic placed hooks at the waist it is possible to adjust this dress and therefore it would also fit a size M (FR40).
