Vincenzo Caprile Paintings
Vincenzo Caprile began his artistic career in 1874, enrolling as a student in the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. There, he studied under Gabriele Smargiassi (1798–1882) then with the most celebrated teacher and artist Domenico Morelli (1823–1901). Caprile met fellow artists Vincenzo Irolli (1860–1949), Atillio Pratella (1856–1949), Francesco Paolo Michetti (1851–1929) and Edoardo Dalbono (1841–1915). He was one of many artists from all over Europe to settle in Venice not only for the beauty of the city but also for commercial reasons. Indeed, the demand for views of the city was highly popular and sought after by the newly enriched European bourgeoisie.
