WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik)
Electro- Wurtemberg Plate Company in Geislingen, Germany, internationally known today as 'WMF' initials of the company Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik was founded in 1853 with 16 workers. Under the direction of Albert Mayer was influenced by Art Nouveau style. In 1914, opening factories in Germany, Poland and Austria. The origins of the firm WMF were modest, and is a lasting tribute to the vision of Daniel Straub. The first catalogs appeared in 1856-1859. The products were made of silver metal and glass among his works are candle holders, planters, punch bowls, card, flower, fruit and cutlery among others. The company was honored with several awards and international success, heralded a period of further expansion. The German Emperor Wilhelm II presented a small museum at Harvard University. In 1905, WMF acquired a majority stake in the company that manufactures Orivit AG under the name "Orivit".

WMF was originally called Metallwarenfabrik Straub & Schweizer. In 1880, Metallwarenfabrik Straub & Schweizer merged with another German company and took the name of Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, then WMF acquired the Polish metalworks Plewkiewicz of Warsaw in 1886, which became a subsidiary of WMF around 1900. In 1900, WMF acquired Albert Köhler, a famous Austrian ironwork company. Then, in 1905, WMF acquired Orivit, a company known for its Jugendstil (German equivalent of Art Nouveau) pewter fabrications, followed a year later by the purchase of Kunstgewerbliche Metallwarenfabrik Orion, another German metal fabrication company. .
During World War I, the WMF was responsible for producing weapons for the German military and had certified to the Allied Control Commission that the tools used to produce these weapons had been destroyed. However, after Hitler's call for rearmament, the company, then under the control of Hugo Debach, immediately resumed producing weapons. Debach died shortly thereafter. From 1940, WMF began to make increasing use of forced labor from Soviet POWs in surrounding camps, with these eventually accounting for a third of the company's workforce. The WMF also founded its own concentration camp in 1944 to detain and force over 900 Hungarian Jewish women...

In a very good vintage condition. Minimalist and very beautiful German design.
The shade is made of aluminum and is anodized in a color like brass on the outside.
With polished solid aluminum base and neck.
The lamp is in 100% original condition with very few signs of wear. No damages to the entire lamp.
Just a tiny little dent and a slight abrasion on the lampshade on one side.
You can see everything in the photos. But it's not as bad as in the photos. Doesn't stand...
