Charlotte Perriand Set Of Two Mexique Stool and Table Outdoor For Cassina
By Charlotte Perriand
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Charlotte Perriand Set Of Two Mexique Stool and Table Outdoor For Cassina Cassina interprets the Mexique designer tables and stools by Charlotte Perriand in new versions, for outdoor living enjoyment at its best. With materials and finishes suited to outdoor use that maintain the same harmony and purity of line that distinguish the entire collection. Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - designed to make the best use of the space - is the unmistakable feature of the seat of the Mexique Outdoor design stool, as well; The bar table can be paired with the design stool from the same family. TOP In okoume plywood, matte lacquer finish in various colours. BASE In stainless steel, matte black powder-coat finish. FEET In black plastic Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. Re-edited by Cassina for the first time in 2014, it gave rise to a collection that includes several iterations, all while staying true to the original designs. Now, working closely with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, daughter and sole heir of Charlotte Perriand, Cassina introduces the Mexique tables and stools in new versions for en plein air enjoyment to the max. The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - originally designed to make the best use of the available space - remains the unmistakable trait in the Mexique Outdoor line, launched this year as a low table, dining table and high table with matching stool, available in two heights. New materials available in fresh, novel finishes and colours differentiate and emphasize the elegant design of this family. For all of the pieces in the series, Okoume wood, ideal for outdoor use, comes with matt lacquer finish in the following colours: marron glacé, China red, comfort, petroleum, light grey, sage green, a new shade of blue and Capri blue; the low tables also come with glossy glazed ceramic finish in the following shades: mossy green, basalt grey and light grey, while a natural teak seat is also available for the stools. Thanks to this vast and varied product range, it is possible to mix and match the various styles to create dynamic, free-form arrangements in absolute Charlotte Perriand spirit. As is true of all the works in the Cassina I Maestri Collection, each piece is authenticated by the Cassina logo, Charlotte Perriand’s signature and by a serial number that corresponds to the data on its ID card. Important information regarding images of products: Please note that some of the images show other colors and variations of the model, these images are only to present interior design proposals. The item that is selling is on the first image. Important information regarding color(s) of products: Actual colors may vary. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor, laptop, tablet and phone screen has a different capability to display colors and that everyone sees these colors differently. We try to edit our photos to show all of our products as life-like as possible, but please understand the actual color may vary slightly from your monitor About The Designer: Charlotte Perriand full membership of that avant-garde cultural movement which, from the first decades of the twentieth century, brought about a profound change in aesthetic values and gave birth to a truly modern sensitivity towards everyday life. In this context, her specific contribution focuses on interior composition, conceived as creating a new way of living, still today at the heart of contemporary lifestyle. In the sphere of twentieth century furnishing history, the advent of modernity made possible the entrepreneurial audacity of this true reformer of interior design. At the beginning of her professional career she was acclaimed by critics for her Bar under the roof, exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in 1927 and constructed entirely in nickel-plated copper and anodized aluminium. In the same year, when she was just twenty-four years old, she began a decade-long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, at the famous design studios at 35, rue de Sèvres in Paris. Her presence in the Le Corbusier studio is visible in all the furnishings designed with him and with Pierre Jeanneret: and so Charlotte Perriand becomes a cornerstone in the reformation project promoted by the architect, adding a distinct dimension of humaneness to the often cold rationalism of Le Corbusier. In her creations she manages to animate the fundamental substance of daily life with new aesthetic values: in particular her talent and intuition in the discovery and use of new materials manifest themselves to their full extent. The ten-year long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, and her Japanese experience, represent periods of intense creative effervescence in the life of the artist. During her long stay in the Far East (‘40-‘46), she reveals her artistic talent to the full, through a reinterpretation of the reality of life to echo both tradition and modernity. By way of example, worthy of mention are the furnishings produced using traditional bamboo processing techniques, capable of enhancing the new forms already experimented using steel-tubing.After her work as a professional, she concentrates on a series of original and balanced productions, commissioned by top-level authorities and leading companies of the calibre of Air France, and by a number of foreign organizations, authenticating the fame she had by now gained on the international scene. The distinguishing factor of Charlotte Perriand’s personality is a sincere loyalty to the principles of humane and innovative rationalism, preserved intact in her projects, on which she worked with such passion, also in readiness for their revival in the “Cassina I Maestri” collection. Gaulino Stool Red by Oscar Tusquets for BD Barcelona, 1902
By Oscar Tusquets Blanca
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Gaulino Stool by Oscar Tusquets for BD Barcelona This stool is, alongside the entire collection, a testament to Oscar Tusquets’ creativity and the influence of Gaulino as a whole. Inspired by Antonio Gaudi and Carlo Mollino, Tusquets created 'Gaulino' in 1987. It was an industrially hand-crafted chair with a contoured wooden frame, slender tapering legs and smooth rich leather. The artisanal chair became a modern icon of 20th-century design. The stool has a concave seat, avoiding the sitter from slouching their back. Its legs are reminiscent of the Gaulino and its backless frame gives the stool a lightness in the home. It can be taken around, tucked under a table or fitted between furnishings. The seat is practical, referential and stylish. It’s the Gaulino again, just in a different light. Born in Barcelona in 1941, Oscar Tusquets graduated as an architect in 1965 from Barcelona’s Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura and was a member of Studi Per, together with Pep Bonet, Cristian Cirici, Lluís Clotet, and Mireia Riera. In 1972, they founded BD together, and Tusquets set about designing furniture and other objects, which would be recognised by the Spanish National Design Award. A number of his pieces appear in renowned museum collections, such as the MoMA in New York and the Centre George Pompidou in Paris. He has also been honoured with the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes (Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts), the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of the Arts and Letters) and the Creu de Sant Jordi (Cross of Sant Jordi). Since the ‘90s, he has published books on a wide range of design-related topics. About the manufacturer: BD has been around for over half a century. It was founded in a nightclub in 1972 by a bunch of young architects and designers from Barcelona. They broke into the design world with a new vision: to produce and market their designs, and the designs of their friends with complete creative freedom and design criteria. Beginning with the designs of contemporaries like Ettore Sottsass, Rennie Mackintosh and Álvaro Siza, BD provoked a curiosity about design. These early pieces helped bring international recognition to the country’s design scene, and many of them still exist today. They are an international design company run by a collective ownership —Apartamento Magazine (Nacho Alegre, Omar Sosa, Marco Velardi), Taller Bofill (Pablo Bofill, Ricardo Bofill, Luna Paiva...
