Rubins’s paintings evoke nostalgia for classical, romantic scenes and periods, an art that is about imagination, history and emotion. His paintings represent his ongoing research into the different ways of applying and understanding painting. They are reinterpretations of paintings and drawings by the Old Masters and of European painters from the 19th and 20th centuries. Rubins is a contemporary Dutch painter, who lives and works in Alp, a small mountain village in the Spanish Pyrenees.
