Handsome vintage Italian Modern B & B Italia black fabric king size bed attributed to Antonio Citterio comprised of a slatted wood base, padded sides & front with removeable black fabric covers, black mesh fabric & aluminum headboard, a removeable side table w/aluminum arm & black painted MDF round top, & aluminum legs. The designer has been attributed to this piece based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials however, it is not signed or marked as to designer in any way. It does have its B&B Italia tag. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage & not new so will have signs of use & wear even if it has been refinished or restored. It also has a removeable side table with an aluminum arm, black painted MDF round top, and an in & out swivel option. It’s especially convenient as you can attach & use it on either side of the bed! Antonio Citterio was born in 1950 in Meda, Italy. He is an Italian architect, furniture designer, and industrial designer who lives & works in Milan. He received a degree in architecture from Politecnico di Milano in 1972 and began working as a designer & an industrial design consultant. From 1987 through 1996, he worked in association with Terry Dwan designing buildings in Japan and Europe and in 2000 with partner Patricia Viel he founded ACPV or Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel which is a cross-disciplinary practice for architecture & interior design. The firm works internationally developing projects on scales in collaboration with a network of specialist consultants. He designed the A2A Tower in Milan and currently works in the industrial design sector with several well acclaimed companies around the world. He was an Architectural Design professor at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio from 2006 to 2016. In 1987 & 1994 he was awarded the “Compasso d’Oro” prize & in 2008 the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce of London awarded him the title of “Honorary Royal Designer for Industry.”
