Alveo black lacquered coffee table by Willy Rizzo for Sabot 70s
By Willy Rizzo, Sabot
Located in Padova, IT
CONDITIONS: very good with small and inevitable signs of age and use
Willy Rizzo (1928–2013) was an influential Italian-French photographer and designer, known for his portraits of the greatest celebrities of the 20th century and for his iconic luxury furnishings of the 1970s.
In 1968, after moving to Rome, he began designing furniture because he felt the existing ones were neither comfortable nor luxurious enough for his jet-set friends.
Style: His designs are characterized by fine materials (brass, stainless steel, lacquer, marble), geometric lines, and a modern, funky aesthetic.
Iconic Pieces: Among his best-known creations are the low tables with integrated bars, the marble dining tables, and the lacquered furniture produced for brands such as Mario Sabot and Cidue.
Awards: Some of his works are exhibited in prestigious museums, including the MoMA in New York.
Even today, Studio Willy Rizzo in Paris continues to preserve its photographic archive and re-edit its design projects.
Mario Sabot: The Company and its Style
Mario Sabot was a prominent Italian design studio and manufacturer active in the 20th century, known for creating furniture that embodied the glamour and style of 1970s Italy.
Aesthetics: Mario Sabot furniture designs are characterized by a fusion of modern and classic elements, with elegant lines, luxurious materials, and a timeless aesthetic.
Materials: The company made extensive use of high-quality materials such as lacquered wood, stainless steel, brass, and glass, often combined to create sophisticated visual contrasts.
Collaborations: The most famous collaboration was with photographer and designer Willy Rizzo, who designed many of Sabot's iconic pieces, including round dining tables with gold metal details and black sideboards...

Metal Arc floor lamp by Pirro Cuniberti for Sirrah 70s
By Pirro Cuniberti, Sirrah
Located in Padova, IT
Profile: Pirro Cuniberti (1923–2016)
Pirro Cuniberti (born Pier Achille Cuniberti) was a highly original figure in 20th-century Italian art, known for his poetic and "fantastic" style.
Key Biography Points
Education: He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where he was a pupil of the famous painter Giorgio Morandi.
Influences: While Morandi was his teacher, Cuniberti was deeply influenced by the work of Paul Klee, whom he discovered at the 1948 Venice Biennale and considered a "spiritual father."
Style and Media: His work is characterized by delicate, rhythmic lines and a sense of "silent luminosity." He was a master of drawing on paper, often using ballpoint pens, and later became known for working on masonite panels using acrylics and graphite.
Design: In addition to fine art, he was a designer. One of his most famous designs is the "PR" floor lamp created for the firm Sirrah in 1970.
Major Works and Contributions
Illustrations: He illustrated the book I meravigliosi animali di Stranalandia (1984) by the famous Italian author Stefano Benni.
Logotype: He designed the official logo for "Bologna 2000: European Capital of Culture."
Exhibitions: His work has been shown at the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadrenniale. Major anthological exhibitions were dedicated to him at the Pinacoteca di Bologna (1984, 1991) and the Museo Archeologico di Bologna (2003).
Legacy
Cuniberti lived and worked in Bologna for most of his life until his passing in 2016. In 2023, the Archivio Pier Achille Cuniberti was established to preserve and promote his artistic corpus.
Sirrah was an influential Italian lighting manufacturer that played a significant role in the Golden Age of Italian design. Named after the star Sirrah in the Andromeda constellation, the company became synonymous with minimalist elegance and technical innovation.
1. History and Background
Foundation: Sirrah was founded in Imola, Italy, in 1968.
Philosophy: The company was known for bridging the gap between industrial production and high-level craftsmanship, maintaining a "refined and artisanal" quality in its products.
Acquisition: In 1994, the company was acquired by the major lighting group iGuzzini.
Merger: In June 2004, Sirrah was fully incorporated into iGuzzini, marking the end of its life as a standalone brand, though many of its iconic designs remain highly sought after by collectors today.
2. Iconic Designers and Collaborations
Sirrah collaborated with some of the most prestigious architects and artists of the 20th century:
Studio Albini-Helg-Piva: They were the first to design for the brand, debuting a series of lamps at the 1968 Triennale. Their AM/AS series (including the AS1N table lamp) is considered a masterpiece of modular lighting design.
Kazuhide Takahama: Perhaps the most famous Sirrah collaborator. In 1973, he introduced the use of heat-resistant, elastic fabric. His Saori, Kaori, and Kazuki lamp...

True icons of twentieth century design, the seats of the Aluminum Group series were designed by Charles and Ray Eames in the 1950s and were first created in 1958, defining what is still the standard for meeting chairs today. A clean and visible structure, which combines the stability and lightness of aluminum with the comfort of a covering - in leather, fabric or mesh - which, being kept taut only by fixing to the sides, becomes an integral part of the joint.

Anaconda glass and steel chromed coffee table by Paul Tuttle for Strassle 70s
By Strässle International, Paul Tuttle

Paul Tuttle (1918 – August 2, 2002) was an American designer known primarily for his work in furniture design, and secondarily for his work in interior design and architectural design. Tuttle had no formal education in design, instead drawing influence from his own experience and the mentorship of well known designers such as Alvin Lustig, Welton Becket, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Tuttle designed furniture for over 50 years, resulting in a body of work that included both manufactured and custom made furniture.
Paul Tuttle decided in the second World war after a India employment with the American Air Force to pursue consistently his own way of the self expression. According to studies at the Art Center College in Pasadena and the work as architect and designer with Alvin Lustig, in Frank Lloyd Taliesin West, with Welton Becket & Associates, Knoll international and Doetsch Grether & Cie sketches Paul Tuttle since 1967 furniture...
