This is a very old Japanese stone.
It was made at least around 1850-1920, or possibly older.
Originally, it was probably a tool for grinding medicinal herbs or cracking nuts.
There are traces of use on both the front and back.
Also, it has a crack in one place. Since it is posted in the photograph, please confirm it.
Don't worry about breaking it.
Now, I think you can enjoy using it as a stone in the garden, or under the rain gutter...
