This beautiful blue and white panel consists of 80 individually hand-painted tiles from Portugal, and dates to the 1800s. Measuring nearly 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide, the scene depicted is that of a bustling port scene with ships, choppy waters, and dock hands unloading goods. Upon closer inspection, one can view interesting details of wooden ships of distinct construction, lettered bags and barrels, people, and architectural elements, including a large stone portico. 3 large wooden ships with various flags are anchored in the harbor, while dinghies full of sailors battle the difficult waters to bring cargo to the dock.
