Antique 19th Century pair of Italian nature morte marble plaques, crafted by Arnoldo Soldini (1861-1936), using the famous white marble sourced from Carrara. One plaque showcases birds and a hare, while the other features a fish and grouse. Each plaque is fitted within a finely carved wooden frame. Both pieces bear Soldini's signature in the lower right corner. Soldini embarked on his artistic journey as a freelance sculptor in 1880, establishing his own studio in Milan. Fantastic set of three carved African doors with custom made black metal sculpture stand. Each door rests on a metal stand with two pegs in the front and a set of holes in the back for screws. Door can be sold without metal stand and hung on a wall. Each door tells a story of a family and their progeny. They were Crocodile hunters, seafarers, and noblemen with many wives and children. History: The Dogon people of Mali are known the world over for their creation of Dogon Doors. The doors have various uses in their society; first as the physical closure to their granaries. Secondly they are created and exchanged as gifts for birthdays, marriages, tokens of luck and rites of passage bequests. Thirdly, when used as a part of the architecture, as a door or shutter, in a private abode, through the use of symbols they are used to describe the occupation of the person or that persons persona or status in the village. Lastly it served as a sign to taxpayers, letting them know which form of payment was accepted in the adjoining building. The symbolic styling of the doors can vary. Pairs of breasts, representing femininity and fertility are usually found. Antique Caddie Golf bag, George Bussey Automaton Caddie. A wonderful example of an early auto caddy by George Bussey, in exceptional condition. This is a rare find indeed as very few of these bags have survived, and they are difficult to obtain. To the top of the bag is the remains of 'GEO .G. BUSSEY & Co. Ltd, EXPERT, PATENT CADDIE' (this is normally in gold lettering, but is very faded). The caddie has a boxwood carry handle and the main body of the caddie is made of mahogany. The boxwood handle is attached to the ash legs via metal rods and a brass mechanism. With this clever design, the legs will open out automatically when the lower end is placed on the ground, and will then fold back in when lifted up.
