The frame finely carved with neoclassical decoration, with gadrooned top rail, flanked by small urns, the padded arms resting on spiral fluted columns capped with rosettes, the turned and cable fluted legs terminating in toupie feet. Upholstered in a stunning golden ochre silk with sumptuous feather under cushion. A fabulous addition at the end of a bed.

Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Jean-Baptiste-Claude Sené became a master menuisier when he was twenty-one. He supplied the French royal family with furniture and is particularly famous for a bed he made for Marie-Antoinette, the French queen, for the palace of Fontainebleau. He made some of the most sumptuous furniture in seats intended for the royal residences. In 1789 he delivered the entire furniture collection for Montreuil Castle offered by Louis XVI to Madame Elisabeth, including designing particularly refined voyeuses chairs...
