A large, classic 1930s Peacock chair handcrafted in France of woven two-toned rattan and wicker. Having a flamboyant shaped high flaring back that resembles the fanned feathers of the bird after which it's named, this rare chair features large rolled arms and an hourglass shaped base. A stunning piece of furniture with a rich history, its design and craftsmanship reflect the elegance and sophistication of its era. Designed to make a statement both structurally and aesthetically, Peacock chairs are considered pieces of art as well as chairs. In fine original condition with a beautifully aged original rich surface color patina, this chair is part of a set that includes the chair and a very rare Peacock rocker, probably custom made in the South of France.
