1948 Eames LCW Lounge Chair in Ash with Ebonized Legs by Evans / Herman Miller

About the Item

This is an LCW Lounge Chair, initially designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1946. It is an early example, dating to circa 1948. The chair was produced by Evans Products, and it was distributed by Herman Miller. It features the 5-2-5 screw pattern, and retains the Evans/HM tag. The chair is composed of bent Calico Ash, having ebonized-ash legs. Its age has truly only contributed to its beauty. The finish has become smooth from use producing a satiny sheen. The Ash has taken on a warm tone, and the flowing grain of the wood has become more distinguished. This chair measures 25.25 inches deep, 20 inches wide, and 26.5 inches high. It has a seat height of 15.38 inches. We've intentionally left the piece in its original condition to showcase the chair's history. There are some chips on the front of the seat that can be professionally repaired prior to shipping if so desired. There are several small scratches and rubs on the seats and the legs. Overall, this chair is in good condition. Please see photos.

Set of Two '2' Herman Miller LCW Lounge Chairs by Charles & Ray Eames, USA
By Herman Miller, Charles and Ray Eames
Located in Deland, FL
Stately, minimal but certainly not understated. This 90's produced pair of LCW chairs by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller has been reimaged in matte black; offered for your consideration as a limited custom release from ABT Modern. From the first of the plywood series, the abbreviated Eames LCW Chair was the Lounge Height (L) Side Chair (C) on Wood (W) Base. Designed by Charles Eames and first manufactured by the Evans Molded Plywood Division, the chair has long gained classic status. The techniques used to make these unique chairs had been developed during the war years and was evident in the Eames Splint, made for and utilized by the US Navy. The Eames LCW Plywood Chair...

1940s Pair of Early Charles Eames for Herman Miller LCW Lounge Chairs in Oak
By Herman Miller, Evans Products Company, Charles and Ray Eames
Located in Philadelphia, PA
Designed in the late 1940s by Charles Eames, this chair has cemented itself in Mid-Century Design like very few other pieces. Early models like this are difficult to come by and are very rarely in such good condition, as many have been worked on in some way or another before their value shot up. These chairs feature a super sleek design of steam-bent plywood, an incredibly innovative technique pioneered by Herman Miller in collaboration with the Eames's and manufacturing firm Evans. The large seat and back are mounted to a molded plywood base with rubber shock mounts, another Eames staple. This allows them to have excellent contrast through spacing, which gives them an excellent stance, almost insect-like. Both are early chairs with the correct screw configurations beneath. This pair features all original hardware, finish, and shock mounts. Very few blemishes, and those that exist are minimal, barely visible even in our high-res pictures. At this time, we have two early pairs, as seen in in photos. We also have another single early model, and two extremely rare pre-production chairs with the accompanying molded plywood coffee table...
